FRM Salary in India: Honest Ranges by Experience

We looked for the same quality of neutral data we found for CFA (see our CFA salary guide) and, honestly, it isn't there for FRM yet.

⚠️ A note on data quality: PayScale doesn't currently publish an India-specific FRM certification breakdown, and Glassdoor's "Financial Risk Manager" job-title page mixes in unrelated roles. The ranges below reflect what's commonly reported across multiple industry sources — treat them as directional, not precise.

Commonly reported ranges by experience

StageTypical range
Fresher / entry-level (Risk Analyst)₹6–12 LPA
Mid-level (3–5 years)₹12–22 LPA
Senior (8–10+ years)₹30 LPA and above, with leadership roles (CRO/Director) going well beyond

These bands are a synthesis of the ranges that recur across multiple industry salary write-ups, not a single measured survey. We're stating that plainly rather than presenting a false level of precision.

What we're confident about

  • Risk management is a growing function in India as banks and NBFCs scale up regulatory and model-risk teams.
  • Mumbai pays a premium over other Indian cities for risk roles, consistent with its concentration of bank and exchange headquarters.
  • Compensation depends far more on employer type (global bank vs. domestic NBFC vs. fintech) and role (market risk vs. credit risk vs. model validation) than on the certification alone.
A note on sourcing: We deliberately did not cite figures from competing coaching-institute blogs on this page. Where we couldn't find a neutral primary source (like PayScale's certification-specific data, which exists for CFA but not yet for FRM), we've said so rather than presenting borrowed numbers as independently verified.
